The Love Machine FM model di Ryan Lovelace è davvero una tavola da surf pazzesca! La FM è la tavola che massimizzerà il divertimento nelle onde lente, offrendoti al contempo un surf veloce e agile nelle onde migliori. Questa tavola è ricca di planata e caratteristiche che francamente ti fanno venire le vertigini, ma non appena la cavalchi, capisci totalmente, tutto cade al suo posto.

Il modello da 7’2″ presenta un fondo con canale retto, mentre le altre misure presentano canali curvi. Lasciamo che Ryan spieghi: “La FM non è una tavola con fondo a canale nel senso classico. Il canale è lì come interruzione per il flusso d’acqua, ma non sta facendo per la tavola ciò che la maggior parte dei progettisti sta cercando nei fondi a canale più profondi ed esagerati così popolari al momento. Questo design presenta un vee a spirale piuttosto pesante nella metà posteriore della tavola, e mentre è incredibile per le transizioni e la sensazione sui binari, crea suzione tra la tavola e l’onda; il canale interrompe quel flusso d’acqua che si attacca alla tavola, quindi ottieni il valore tridimensionale del vee a spirale e la sua sensazione rotolante, ma senza appiccicosità.” La FM rientra nella categoria delle tavole di lunghezza media ma offre molto di più rispetto alla maggior parte delle tavole di questa lunghezza. La scelta della misura è abbastanza semplice, come per tutte le tavole di lunghezza media, pensa alle onde che andrai a surfare e a cosa vuoi che la tavola faccia per te, se vuoi scivolare vai più grande, se vuoi prestazioni vai più piccolo.

La tavola ha un setup twin plus front nubster, velocità da twinny ma con controllo. La vetratura sul fondo da 6 once e sul deck da 6+4 once significa che la tavola è anche resistente. I binari sono pizzicati attraverso il centro della tavola, si sollevano nel nose, sono duri nella coda e ben profilati in tutto, garantendo una sensazione di risposta. Il rocker è moderato con una generosa sollevazione dalla coda. La base ha un canale profondo attraverso le pinne che offre un punto di rilascio rendendo la tavola leggera e reattiva. Davvero una tavola divertente da surfare.
The Love Machine FM model from Ryan Lovelace is a total nutter of a surfboard! The FM is the board that will maximise fun in slow waves whilst giving you outstanding fast rail to rail surfing in the better stuff. This board is packed with glide and features which frankly make the mind boggle, but as soon as you ride the thing you totally get it, everything falls into place.

The 7 2 features a straight channel bottom whereas the other sizes feature curved channels. We’ll let Ryan explain this; “The FM isn’t a channel bottom, in the classical sense. The channel is there as a break for water flow, but it isn’t doing for the board what most designers are chasing in the deeper more exaggerated channel bottoms that are so popular right now. This design sports a pretty hefty spiral vee in the back half of the board, and while that is amazing for rail transitions and feel, it creates suction between the board and wave; the channel breaks that water flow that is sucking onto the board, so you get the three-dimensional value of the spiral vee and its rolling sensation, but without the stickiness.” The FM sits in the mid length category but offers so much more than most mids out there. Sizing is easyish, as with all mid lengths think about the waves you’re going to be surfing in and what you want the board to do for you, if you glide go bigger, if you want performance go smaller.

The board has a twin plus front nubster set up, twinny speed but with control. 6 oz bottom & 6+4 oz deck glassing means the board is tough too. The rails are pinched through the centre of the board, turned up in the nose, hard into the tail, and well foiled all the way, a responsive feel is guaranteed. The rocker is moderate with generous lift out of the tail. The base has a deep channel through the fins which offers a point of release making the board feel light and responsive. Such a fun board to surf.
